OUAT: 'what happened to Frederick'

‘What Happened to Frederick’ was directed by Dean White. Writer was David H. Goodman. In pre-curse FTL, Prince James (Josh Dallas) is being hunted by King George’s (Alan Dale) royal guard.

For ending the arranged marriage with Princess Abigail (Anastasia Griffith). James escapes one trap with Abigail’s help. She hopes he finds his true love Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin).

She’s heartbroken since her love Frederick is lost to her. The Knight was accidently touched by her father and turned into solid gold. She tells him how other men have gone on quests. To retrieve healing water from a magical lake. None were seen alive again.

The lady in the lake appears to James as Snow White. Like a siren leading a sailor to his doom. He frees himself from the seduction and kills the creature. James returns to Abigail with a flask. The water is pulled over the Frederick statue.

The Knight returns to life. James renews his quest to find Snow. Her BFF Red Riding Hood (Meghan Ory) catches up with the runaway Prince. She tells him Snow is looking for him and still loves him. The two run when George’s men show up in the area.

In Storybrooke, Kathryn (Anastasia Griffith) wants to start over. She’s applied to law school in Boston. David (Josh Dallas) doesn’t want to leave town or Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin). MM tells David to be honest with his wife. He doesn’t and walks away from the marriage.

Kathryn confides in her new BFF Mayor Mills. Regina (Lana Parrilla) accidently reveals the real cause of the breakup. Then shows her a packet of photos. Regina then makes a point to find MM. She calls her out being a home wrecker. But MM didn’t know he left her.

Kathryn confronts MM at work. She reveals the affair. People treat MM like a pariah. Her car is vandalized. David lies to her again. So she breaks up with him. Kathryn decides to start over alone in Boston. She leaves David a letter but Regina burns it.

The curse strikes. Kathryn’s car runs off the road when she tries to cross the town line.

The good: More Snowing and the Kathryn/David/Mary Margaret love triangle. MM wants to be honest and up front with everyone. But David blocks her at every turn. He’s trying to sleep with both women. Before the relationship with MM becomes public knowledge.

The bad: David is the weakest link. He constantly lies to Kathryn. Not telling her he’s falling in love with someone else. He didn’t really try to save his marriage. He loved chasing MM and the danger of getting caught. But wouldn’t let Kathryn to move on with her life.

The ugly: The fallout when the truth comes out. Regina doing everything in her power to keep David and MM apart. Including spray painting “Tramp” on MM’s car.
