OUAT Fan Theory: The Evil Queen
Regina (Lana Parrilla) is hell bent for her happy ending. She wanted Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) dead more than anything. Killing others was collateral damage or recreational sport. When assassination attempts failed, Regina opted for sleeping spell via an apple. When Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) broke it using True Love’s kiss she chose the Dark Curse.
Her new happy ending would transport everyone from the FTL to our world. And they would have false memories dramatically altering their personalities. She’d rule over StoryBrooke Maine as Mayor Mills. Though they’d be trapped in variations of the same day for 28 years.
There is good inside of her. She tried hard to free herself from Cora’s (Barbara Hershey) tyranny and Rumple’s (Robert Carlyle) guidance. Both were impossible to resist. It was safer to hate and rage against Snow White. If she didn’t acknowledge the truth, she didn’t have to confront feelings and memories.
A lifetime haunted by verbal, physical and emotional abuse. Cora was powerful mage and completely unpredictable. All Regina wanted was a mother’s love that was repeatedly denied. Seeing Daniel (Noah Bean) killed before her was deeply traumatizing. She and her dad Henry (Tony Perez) lived with a power hungry maniac who happened to be their wife and mother.
Cora trapped her in a loveless marriage to King Leopold (Richard Schiff). He only wanted her to raise his daughter. She became step mother to young Snow White (Baliee Madison). Who told Cora about her secret romance with the stable boy. Regina reluctantly partnered with Rumple. Thinking she could find a way to bring Daniel back.
She lost hope after Dr. Frankenstein’s (David Anders) experiment failed. She threw herself wholeheartedly into a revenge quest. Insanity made her easier for Rumple to control. He broke her down psychologically. He isolated her by playing on her insecurities. Manipulated her until all she had to live for was vengeance.
People, commoners and nobility alike, hated Regina with a passion. They wanted bandit Snow White to stop running, kill her and rule the kingdom in her stead. Enacting the curse left void in her soul. At the time she was willing to pay it. She got satisfaction but was lonely. The Huntsman (Jamie Dornan) was her lover but she still felt empty.
Acquiring a newborn and raising her adopted son Henry (Jared S. Gilmore) brought her happiness. Then that was threatened by the arrival of his birth mother Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison). She fought to prevent Henry from being taken away from her and losing his love. She doesn’t believe there’s room in his life for two mothers.
