Living in Los Angeles, we can easily find organic fruits and vegetables, organic cotton t-shirts, and yes, even organic facials. So, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Spa del Rey, the luxury spa located in the oceanfront AAA Five-Diamond The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey, offers an organic line of facials and massages.
Normally organic skincare brands can cost quite a bit more, so I used a local deal from Travelzoo which brought the organic facial price down by 25% ($109, reg. $145). With the deal I purchased, I got to choose between a 60-minute customized massage or facial; plus, it included access to the spa’s steam room and the resort’s outside pool and Jacuzzi.
I arrived at my appointment 45 minutes ahead of schedule to take advantage of the eucalyptus steam room. I have allergies so clearing my sinuses from the city smog was a pampering bonus. Spa del Rey is new, just over a year old, and it is pristine so immediately I felt like I was getting a first-class spa and treatment.
The 60-minute facial began with a creamy hydrating cleanser called ilike Organic Skin Care Lemon Cleansing Milk. According to my aesthetician, the ilike Organic Skin Care brand uses certified organic products and ingredients, without GMOs or parabens, and is used for wrinkles, acne and sun damage.
The aesthetician removed my mascara with delicate measure, note to self, a habit that I generally lack in my evening beauty routine. Next, warm steam wafted over my face, which was especially calming to breath in and helped me settle into the relaxation of the experience. She then layered on ilike Mineral Exfoliating Wash over my face and neck and I loved the refreshing scent.
Then the ilike Botanical AHA Peel was applied, which tingled a bit but didn't sting. After removing the peel, it was time for the prodding and extracting of blemishes, a process that I don’t mind because it saves me the hassle and time.
Afterward, the ilike Rosehip Gel Mask was applied giving an instant cooling effect. With the mask on, the aesthetician massaged my neck and shoulders and it was incredibly relaxing. Finally, when the mask was removed, leave-in moisturizers were rubbed into my skin including the ilike Brightening Serum, Age Defense Bioflavonoid Moisturizer, and Age Defense Bioflavonoid Eye Cream.
I saved using the Travelzoo deal but I made sure to leave a $30 tip, taking into account the original price ($145) of the facial. It's also good to know that parking is complementary at The Ritz-Carlton when you check-in for your spa experience.
