Optimum Amla Legend Miraculous Black Oil Dull Defying Haircolor is one of the recent additions to the Optimum Amla Legend Rejuvenating Ritual hair care line that feature phyllanthus emblica extract (amla oil). Amla Oil, also called Indian Gooseberry, has been used in India for centuries for hair care. It is known for being nourishing to the hair and scalp and is also thought to prevent premature gray hair.
The Miraculous Black Oil Dull Defying Haircolor provides tone-on-tone hair color that enhances natural hair color. Amla oil rejuvenates and conditions the hair and also boosts the coloring process. The Amla Legend hair color is a demi-permanent, which lasts longer than semi-permanent but not quite as long as permanent hair color. Demi-permanent hair color is considered safer than permanent hair color because there is no ammonia and a lower amount of hydrogen peroxide. It still contains some suspect chemicals typically found in hair color products (benzyl salicylate and artificial fragrance for example) but it is long-lasting so there is less need for frequent touch-ups. It is said to last through 28 shampoos.
The Miraculous Black Oil Dull Defying Haircolor includes:
• Bottle of Tone-on-Tone Miraculous Black Oil Haircolor
• Applicator Bottle Containing Crème Developer
• Tube of Amla Legend Body Filler Hair Cream™ Conditioner
• Amla Legend Rejuvenating Oil Ampoule
• Amla Legend Damage Antidote™ Packette
• Instructions Sheet with Plastic Gloves
At first the crème developer and colorant seemed more runny than other hair color I've used, but the results were fantastic (used on natural dreadlocks). There was no foul odor. It was easy to apply (once I got used to the consistency) and quickly coated the hair strands with color. Other hair color products I’ve tried tend to fade quickly, even when the product was permanent color and also didn't fully cover grays as well as the Dull Defying Haircolor. This hair color definitely covers gray in just one application as promised.
After coloring and using the Body Filler Hair Cream Conditioner, Rejuvenating Oil and Damage Antidote, my hair felt soft. I’m not happy with the amount of chemicals in the product or that the amla oil is low on the ingredient list, but I do plan to switch to using this hair-coloring product.
Optimum Amla Legend Miraculous Black Oil Dull Defying Haircolor is available in three shades: Jet Black, Natural Black and Natural Dark Brown. It has the suggested retail price of $8.99 and can be found at mass, drug and beauty supply stores nationwide.
