Oprah Winfrey's Life Class debuted on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) on October 10, 2011. The Life Class features lessons that Oprah learned from guests of the Oprah Show over the past 25 years. She invited these guests back as teachers in the Life Class series. After the show aired on the OWN Network, Oprah hosted live webcasts from Harpo Studios in Chicago.
The atmosphere inside of the studio for the webcast was lively and cordial. Oprah's staff was very accomodating and greeted us with a warm reception. The team of stylists and make-up artists pampered us like celebrities. The studio audience was an intimate group of about 60 people. Oprah was attentive and responsive; taking the time to personally address each question. The webcast included input from the studio audience, Facebook, Skype and the comment wall from Oprah.com.
Author and life coach, Cheryl Richardson, was the guest teacher for the "You Are What You Believe" session. Oprah and Cheryl talked about how powerful our own affirmations are and how they affect our lives. When Cheryl made the statement "Affirmations plus action equals miracles" the audience and the class errupted. It was a very interactive and engaging session.
Even though, we were speaking to millions of people around the world, it didn't even feel like the cameras were there. Oprah pointed out that not only were people posting comments for her, but they were interacting with other as well. Even Oprah seemed a bit surprised at the impact of her worldwide classroom. She shared with the audience that she had not experienced fear about anything in her career until she started OWN. It was an amazing experience to share in the start up phase of OWN with Oprah.
There are more details about this experience in the article "The Day I Met Oprah Winfrey" on The Social Butterfly Network blog.
