As one of the meanest, hardest, grittiest rap groups of all time, Onyx have shocked and appalled plentifully in the past with their rhymes of excessive violence and callous disregard for everything. What made them even more authentic and hard for part of their history is the production value added to their work by Run-DMC's Jam Master Jay. Now they have taken on the Snowgoons for the beats of their #Wakedafucup album. The Snowgoons do the job even if the beats come off as slightly inanimate at times. They are hard knocking and true to the Onyx code. In addition, the same high energy in the raps and flows of the members is still there. The street themes and street topics have not changed and they do not explore any new areas on which to speak, but the gang is as wonderfully derisive as they have always been. With outrageous guest emcee verses and the tried and true Onyx material that made them infamous in the early nineties, #Wakedafucup is an eye-opener that will reveal, revive, and take you back in history.
