Online Genealogy Forms at Blood and Frogs

I recently discovered some new online genealogy forms from various blogs and websites. I thought I would share them with you over the next few weeks. The first set of genealogy forms comes from Blood and Frogs author Philip Trauring. Philip writes about Jewish genealogy and ways to research your family history, regardless of background. Philip doesn't write short posts daily. Instead he writes posts that are lengthy and full of wonderful information.

Philip has developed several genealogy forms available for free download as PDFs. You can save these forms and edit them on your computer. Just use the 'Save As' feature to save multiple copies and you are not printing a lot of paper! The forms are designed to work together to add family members as you research. They are clean, straightforward, and easy to use.

Chicago genealogists can use these forms when visiting the National Archives, Newberry Library, Chicago History Museum Research Center, Harold Washington Library, or any of the ethnic museums and cultural centers in the city.

So what does Philip offer you?

  • Ancestor Form - This is similar to a pedigree chart with the option to add a family name to the top for easier filing.
  • Family Form - This is your family group sheet which allows you to enter two parents plus up to six children on one form. There are also boxes to indicate which source person or additional chart to refer to for each person listed.
  • Sibling Form - Record the siblings in a family here. Again, Philip has added boxes so you can easily refer to other forms for easy filing and information location.
  • Ancestor Location Form - Use this form to record the names of your main lines and their birth date and location. This form allows you to see in a quick glance, what information you are missing!
  • US Immigrant Census Form - Use this form for censuses 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930 to collect information from the censuses.
  • Form Index Sheet - This form allows you to keep track of all the other forms Philip provides. It helps keep you organized.

So what are you waiting for? Go to Philip's site and start downloading and using his forms. I think you will find your research can be much more organized with this system.
