One31 – One31

Orlando Indie/Rock band One31’s new self-titled CD is sure to earn them many new fans. With a polished mix of steady beats, melodic vocal effects, and heartfelt lyrics, the songs on this CD draw the listener in with an infectious energy, and keep them hooked through the end.

On the high-energy first song, “Move,” the band appears to be wrestling with a dilemma as vocalist Rebekkah Joy Serra belts out “Do you think were ready?” and answers the question herself “Get out of my way / just move.” Yeah, they’re ready. The rhythmic beats leading into “Starting Over” give it a 70’s television theme show vibe as it flows around sweet vocal harmonies.

“Lost,” “A Group of Lions,” and “Let Go” have darker vocal tones floating over heavier, edgy music. The message in “Let God Be the Judge” is delivered solidly with the vocal interplay in the song. The softer vocals in “Let Love Be” have an almost pleading tone. “Static” is a very catchy, anthemic styled song.

Closing out the CD is an acoustic version of “Lost” and the acoustic song “Why,” both songs effectively showcasing Serra’s soaring, passionate vocals.

In an earlier interview Serra said she hoped her songs would be inspirational and relatable to people who hear them. The songs on this CD deliver that message.

One31’s CD will be released August 30, following a special release show held at The Plaza Live in Orlando on August 26. Fans can keep updated with One31 on their official site, Twitter, and Facebook pages. The official music video for “Lost” can be seen on You Tube.
