One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure

This weekend our family visited the Science Center of Iowa to see One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure, now playing in the Star Theater. The show is free with general admission to the center and is approximately twenty minutes long.

Our boys, ages three and one, both seemed to really enjoy the entire feature. Big Bird and Elmo were the main characters and they were there to teach children about stars, constellations and the moon. With help from their friend from China, Big Bird and Elmo sing songs like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, find the North Star and the Big Dipper, and attempt to fly a kite on the moon.

Since the Star Theater is domed the kids loved being able to lay on the ground to watch the movie. The show was visually stimulating, even for adults, and the short duration is perfect for little one’s attention spans.  Our three year old watched the entire show attentively, and our one year old was happily engaged up until the last five minutes or so.

I would highly recommend One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure to families with children ages 1-10. The show will be playing in the Star Theater at the Science Center of Iowa through Thursday March 3, 2011. Please visit www.sciowa.org for show times and admission costs.
