'One for the money' is a perfect film for a lazy weekend afternoon

Now for something completely different Hartford.

The film One for the Money is based of the book series by Janet Evanovich and is about a bounty hunter by the name of Stephanie Plum. The book was first published in 1994 and has been a long time best seller. One for the Money stars Katherine Heigl as Plum and Jason O'Mara.

Stephanie is broke, newly divorced, and from Trenton, Jersey. Desperate for work she finds herself working for her cousin’s bail- bond business. Her first assignment requires her to bring in O’Mara’s character named Joe Morelli. Morelli and Plum have a complicated romantic past, which puts them at odds with one another.

Heigl and O’Mara share reasonable chemistry but it is Daniel Sunjata as another bounty hunter who shines in his scenes with Katherine Heigl. As the film goes on it gets easier and easier to believe Heigl as a trash talking everywoman from New Jersey, but her accent needed quite a bit of work.  She’s in her safe zone here as a romantic lead and it is not bad work. Still, perhaps it is time Ms. Heigl step away from these kinds of films for a while.

One for the Money is a perfect film for a lazy weekend afternoon. It is funny (though most of the best jokes can already be found in the trailer) and for the most part entertaining. The plot is not overly complicated which does make the movie drag in parts, but overall it is an enjoyable film.
