Masculinity made feminine was the theme at the Marissa Webb's SS14 show. Now in her third season, the designer has made that her staple. On the runway, solid colors were prominent and could be spotted in the use of bright reds, a bold blue and yellow. Shirt dresses were paired with ties to add a boyish element. A boucle tweed jacket with leather detail was paired with matching shorts making the collection more wearable than most.
"Showing via runway for the first time, garments are powerful and structured, but still accessible. There is an injection of a "decidedly rock 'n' roll" edge, but balanced with luxe silks, crepes, leather and rich Italian fabrics. Jewelry was featured in select looks courtesy of Yael Sonia Fine Jewelry, including cocktail rings and pendants in hammered onyx and quartz in a layered look consisting of leather cords and gold chains," according to the presentation notes.
Notable guests we spotted included Alyssa Milano, actress Alexandra Daddario, and Cory Kennedy. Songs played at the show included, "Let Me In" by Class Actress, "Gone Gone Gone" by Ladyhawke, "Better Off" by Haim and "This Ladder is Ours" by The Formidable Joy
Makeup was sponsored by Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, hair was styled by Linh Nguyen for Cutler, footwear was designed by Marissa Webb and Yael Sonia Fine Jewelry provided the sparkle.
