It seems like the new “in thing” these days is small plate dining. We’re not sure if it’s so everyone can taste everything and not feel like a gourmand instead of a gourmet. Even if you eat a melange of dishes, you won’t feel stuffed or guilty. With a Mediterranean influence, Crossroads on Melrose Ave. in West Hollywood, features the latest in artfully presented plant based dishes that are flavorful and innovative.

The mastery 0f chef Tal Ronnen is magical. He is taking on the live foodie revolution and making art out of everyday plants, which feels like a celebration of earth day, every day! His creations come alive on the plate, inside your mouth, your belly, and the after state is more energy, feeling healthful and positive. This is a guilt-free gorge of the best seasonal dishes.

On the menu are dishes such as: morel mushroom gravy with focaccia biscuits; artichoke "oysters" with artichoke purée, crispy oyster mushroom, yellow tomato béarnaise and kelp caviar; herb risotto-stuffed banana peppers with basil lime beurre blanc; and caramelized leek flatbread with crispy root vegetables. The most fun is deconstructing the rich tasting, yummy concoctions that sometimes mimic a super naughty dessert, but without the guilt.

Must try: 1. KALE SALAD
pine nuts / currants / lemon-thyme vinaigrette
(Yes, every vegan menu has kale on it, but this is so light, frilly and artful, yet yummy.)

2.CARAMELIZED LEEK & CAULIFLOWER BISQUE fried capers

3.LENTIL FLATBREAD WITH 3 SEASONAL SPREADS
leek pâté / smoked white bean hummus / tomato braised banana peppers

4.RED GRAPEFRUIT SALAD
ruby red grapefruit / avocado / fennel / arugula / citrus olive oil / marcona almonds / farro

5.SCALOPPINI WITH MARSALA-GLAZED MOREL MUSHROOMS
Usually not a Gardein fan, but this can fool any hard hearted meaty guy.

6.SPICED CHICKPEAS
oven-dried tomatoes / parsley garlic whip

7. KALE SPANAKOPITA
harissa spiced smoked tomato fondu / mint oil

Go with a large crowd and just try all of the desserts.

The restaurant is a real hit and just what the 'doctor' ordered for excellent plant based nutrition all wrapped up in a sexy, sumptuous package of healthy, yet rich and satisfying dishes. It was a cacophony of flavors unlike any place else in Los Angeles. This is a trendsetting place that will lead the way to enjoying gourmet vegan food, fine dining and exotic spirits. This is not your typical ‘in-the-hood vegan joint.’

The food is fresh, creative and delicious, the atmosphere is sexy, beautiful, and packed with people who are in the know. If you get a chance, you have to check it out. America’s favorite vegan and talk show host, Ellen cannot stop singing his praises, “One of my favorite things about this amazing restaurant is the bar. Not only is it a gorgeous place to meet up with a friend, but the drinks are spectacular. They have a huge selection of beer, wine and cocktails. I’m determined to try every single one of them. I don’t care if it takes me all dinner.”

SUNSET & VINE milagro reposado / solerno / lillet rouge / st. germain / rhubarb bitters blood orange / beet / basil / ginger beer (This one was a unique layering of many different flavor infused tastes, each layer lingered and you may find yourself sipping instead of slugging it down.)
