Olive the woolly bugger series, book one

"You're not one of us, so SCRAM!"

Olive the Woolly Bugger wants to be a dry fly like her colorful dry fly companions at Camp Tightloops. You see, a woolly bugger is not a dry fly that floats. A woolly bugger is a fly designed to be fished wet and under the water surface. So, try as she might, Olive just can’t float like Randal the Royal Coachman, Sally the Yellow Sally, or Stan the Stimulator. They are dry flies that float like champions and are a bit snobby about it. You have to read the book to see how Olive learns what she CAN do well and how she learns to fit in. Her lessons teach perseverance, respect for others. They also show kids that even though they might be different, they have good attributes, too.

Kirk Werner’s creation of Olive the little woolly bugger is a great story and the colorful illustrations easily keep the attention of children as the pages are turned.
