Up north, past the boarder of Toledo with Michigan there is a quaint little old restaurant in an even older school house in the even older town of Lambertville. This is a great place of history for the region as there have been people living “north of the boarder” here from the early 1800’s onward. The School House Commons Lunchroom restaurant has been around for about 25 years and serves the best breakfast in Bedford township for a reasonable price.
Whether you get the “Crabby Principal” or any of the other great breakfasts, you can be sure it will be made to order and accompanied by your choice of toast, hash browns or home fries.
The people and the history of the building make this a special place. Wander the halls of a fairly small school that has been perserved along with its history. You’ll find antiques (stop in and see Peggy!), office supplies, a hair dresser as well as the great food at school house lunchroom.
School House Lunchroom also has lunches and closes for dinner by 3pm on Sat, but are open M-F till 5:30pm. They now boast a “loyalty program” and a breakfast special at $1.99 for hashbrowns, eggs and toast. Daily lunch specials include two varieties of burger, fries and drink for $3.99 or deluxe burger, fries and drink for $4.99.
The Olde School House Commons is located at 8336 Monroe road, at the corner of Monroe road and Secor road, 4 miles north of Toledo’s city limits. Park on the south side and enter the school, there is no penalty for tardiness, the restaraunt is on the right side as you enter. Whether you go with breakfast or lunch you’ll have a great time with the team waiting on you and taking care of your nutrition needs in the homey setting at the Lunchroom!
