I can safely say that this is one of the most spectacular renditions of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet that has been stage in the Northeast Ohio area. The sets are opulent, the costumes dazzling and the dancing is as perfect as is humanly possible. This year features special guests, Daniel Ulbricht and Erica Periera who are featured in the breathtaking Grand Pas de Deux. Demonstrating amazing leaps, jumps and catches their duet is alone worth the price of the ticket. The pair are principle dancers with the New York City Ballet and this is your one chance to see them this year in Ohio.
The Pas de Deux notwithstanding, the entire performance is so richly done that you would swear that you are in Chicago, New York or Playhouse Square. It really is that good. Highlights of the performance include the Pas de Duex, the Mouse King’s working the audience (as well as his very funny death scene), the Snow Queen sequence, the Angels sequence…let me make this easy. The entire show is spectacular and if you are a true lover of Classical Ballet you owe it to yourself to take the 45 minute drive to Elyria to see it. I promise, you will not be disappointed.
