Jeff Jessie, publicly referred to as ‘mouse’, is a Columbus artist whose handmade jewelry ranges from beaded and wire wrapped jewelry to using precious metal clay in his work and the craftsman rarely incorporates man-made materials to make his unique, individual hand constructed artwork. Being the creative person that he is, Jeff routinely implements wood, gemstone and clay or any natural element produced by Mother Earth to complement his functional and exceptional jewelry designs that his clients can wear daily or for formal occasions.
Having a good imagination, artist Jeff does not work from preliminary drawings as he allows the material in hand to determine the exclusive patterns using cheap tools to round off his artwork since he feels his hands are the best instruments to refine his work.
Even though Jeff had a scholarship to study art at Siena Heights University, he declined the opportunity and accepted a job at the now defunct arts & crafts Byzantium shop where he taught wire and beaded jewelry. Adding to his working artist résumé, Jeff has displayed his crafted jewelry in an assortment of stores within Columbus over the years and currently works at Accent on Nature in Grandview Heights where the jewelry maker displays his distinctive pieces.
Jeff’s knowledge and experience as an artist will now allow him to teach his craft at Accent on Nature in the near future.
