On the heels of the Miley Cyrus/Sinéad O'Connor's feud last week, that started when Sinead offered Miley unsolisited advice about a casual comment Miley made regarding how the inspiration of the video to her current radio hit "Wrecking Ball" was styled after the famous Sinead video to, "Nothing Compares 2 U." With Sinead insulted to the comparison, warning Miley about the risks of acting like a stupid exploited prostitute, at the hands of Miley's uncaring music industry execs...ouch!
That crazy train ride, dove tailed into the week ending with Miley Cyrus on her best behavior hosting Saturday Night Live, and without ripping up the Pope's photo, as Sinead once did, also on SNL. The opening was funny when Miley finally met up with toothy Vanessa Bayer, who probably got to retire her killer imitation of the singer on SNL's "Miley Cyrus Show" sketch. Playing Miley's old self warning new hair cropped Miley that her VMA performance "might be too controversial."
Acting like the perfect lady, Miley kept her tongue and cheek in check, while keeping her x-rated tweed crop top and knee-length skirt on, during her opening monologue. As she joked about her MTV VMA duet, with Robin Thicke. Later Robin Thicke, Taran Killam walked at that point, and said, "Hey wzup kid? You ready to start grabbing on my junk while I half sing?" Spoofing her other VMA character costar, Bobby Moynihan also popped up as a horrified
teddy bear who shouted "We shouldn't be doing this! This is for kids!" But to the dismay of Disney, Miley said that she wasn't doing Hannah Montana, but offered an update on what Hannah's been up to…she was murdered...oops!
Although Miley Cyrus spoofed her MTV Video Music Awards performance and herself, later Miley promised, there wouldn't be twerking during Saturday night, "Because even though then it was cool, now that old white people are doing it it seems kind of lame." Miley did have clothes free fun, with new cast member Kyle Mooney, they got caught in the midst of shooting a sex tape.
Miley parodied her "We Can't Stop" music video, in what was her best sketch of the night, poking fun at the government shutdown in "We Did Stop."While, she shimmied and shaked her stuff in a brunette wig and black shorts suit as Michelle Bachman, Taran Killam snapped on a gold grill, a white crop top and leggings to play a body rolling John Boehner.
SNL's musical performer, rocking a glittery chain and a big sheer Poison jersey shirt, was Miley Cyrus, doing "Wrecking Ball," Then for her second number Miley sang a soulful rendition of the song, "We Can't Stop," taking a seat in a mesh sleeveless white tank top, white jogging pants and Nike flip flops.
In closing, yeah, Miley Cyrus was good in her SNL appearance especially in the few sketches that she wasn't playing herself. But as predicted it was a whole lot about the Miley Cyrus in the headlines, an exaggerated version of herself. When she comes back, and her press is back to normal, she can relax like Justin Timberlake.
So take that Sinead, and Cher, and take on somebody your own elderly age !
