'Oddities' wraps up with urban elves and Ouija boards

Oddities wraps up a fantastic month of unusual antiquities with a visit from Reverend Jen, a self-professed Tolkien fan who describes herself as an urban elf.

“I’ve been wearing elves ears for about the last 20 years, I have no idea why” explains Reverend Jen. “I think I watched “The Dark Crystal” too many times and thought, ‘I bet that would look good.’”

Jen, who has been wearing prosthetic elves ears for the last 20 years and happens to call herself Reverend, made her way into Obscura in the search of an authentic-looking Ouija board to use as a prop for her horror-comedy titled “Satan’s Bitches.”

“The movie’s a bit of a comedy. So these teenager’s are trying to summon satan because they’re in a rock band and they’re trying to cut a record deal and they think that if they make a pact with satan they will be able to do that,” said Jen.

Evan manages to conjure up a Ouija board dating back to the 1800’s, and as always, she gives a brief history of the Ouija board and why it works.

Also featured on tonight’s episode is a sideshow performer who displays feats of pain tolerance for Ryan in hopes of getting a discount on a medical device used for opening a patient's rib cage and Ted who reaches out to Obscura to find ear, nose & throat related items that he plans to give to his doctor as a thank you gift for curing his cancer.

Oddities airs Saturday, March 9 at 9:00 PM (ET/PT) on the Science Channel.
