Bayville is a small seaside town on the north shore of long island with anl amusement park,beautiful homes, and Ocean, an extraordinary dining venue featuring fish and sushi.. Ocean is part of the Crescent beach club and offers spectacular food, ambiance and some of the most gorgeous sunrises and sunsets on the north shore. The restaurant and club are presided over by a youthful, dynamic and welcoming COO...Matt Silver. Over the past two years, Ocean has become a focal point for delightful seaside dining, weddings and sensational catered affairs.
The architectural beauty of the crescent club and its spectacular water views, offer an escape from everyday life into a charming caribbean like setting.
We visited Ocean on Memorial Day, and enjoyed an evening filled with neptunian delights, great service and a laid back tropical ambiance. We were seated in the main dining room overlooking the beach and the Sound and the combination of the gorgeous water and beautiful restaurant ambiance was unbeatable.
We began our meal with: - a superior shrimp cocktail with a fabulous cocktail sauce made with tomatoes and horseradish..
-large shelled oysters accompanied by hot sauce- sweet and delicious
We were also served a fabulous charcuterie plate- a chef's selection of seasonal accoutrements- chorizo, serrano ham, turkey sausage, and other fine delicacies made in the ocean kitchen. A perfectly made caesar salad with anchovies, parmesan, house crouton completed our appetizers.
Jaki our ebullient and knowledgeable waitress recommended that we sample a number of seafood specialties. We dined on a fantastic scottish salmon, pink and delicate with a crispy skin, made with a mandarin soy glaze, and farro. The presentation and taste of the salmon dish was superb!
We then feasted on a large broiled two pound lobster with spring vegetables, and drawn butter. The lobster meat was soft, plentiful and delicious.
For side dishes We enjoyed a large bowl of "ocean" pasta- fettucini, lobster, oven roasted mushrooms, with a fabulous lobster cream sauce. There was more than enough for a second meal the next day. We also sampled a roasted caulifower steak. - A large cauliflower cut into steak like portions, caramelized with ferro and egg custard.
Our neptunian feast was awesome and combined beautiful plating, fabulous taste combinations, and excellent service. It was now time for dessert and Executive Chef Teague sent over two wonderful flavored creme brulee dishes - vanilla and oreo, with a delicate crust, and a plate of hand decorated chocolate bon bons made with strawberry, walnut, raspberry, hazelnut creme, lime ganach, cayenne ganach.
Our dinner at Ocean on memorial day was a sweet and beautiful way to end a beautiful holiday!
For special occasions, and intimate or family meals, Ocean is a great place to visit. Fine food, catering, and a staff and management that go out of their way to make every dining experience memorable.
