OB Noodle House is a staple of Ocean Beach. Located blocks off the beach, at 2218 Cable Street, the place is consistently packed with moppy haired surfers fresh off the latest set. Groups of friends huddle over the coveted Pho served there daily. With one of the best beer selections in the beach area, OB Noodle House is the place to be for happy hour. Craft beer snobs rejoice, this is the place for you.
Hit up the 'house' between 3pm and 6pm every day and all day Sunday for half off of their 40 beers on tap. A few of my favorites from the selection include: Strawberry Banana Sundae (mixed in-house), Alesmith Little Devil Belgian Pale, Cinnamon Pumpkin Gueze Sour and Linderman Lamic Framboise. The beer list can be intimidating for the novice brew fan but the staff has expert knowledge helping to point you in the right direction. Ask for a sample if you are still torn. Another great deal is the daily dollar beer everyday from open-5pm. The dollar beer varies from month to month.
For those of you that have never had pho (pronouced 'fuh'), it is a beef broth rice noodle soup. While it's perfect anytime, pho is my go-to for the overcast, chilly days during the winter months. OB Noodle House serves 19 different varieties of the delicious dish. If you are a fan of seafood, the crab and shrimp filled pho is especially tasty. Another personal favorite is the Saigon fried rice. The portions are huge so you are sure to have leftovers.
Next time you venture to Ocean Beach, I would highly suggest hitting up the OB Noodle House. The wait can be a little long, but it is well worth it. Lucy's bar is right next door which is optimal for passing some time if there happens to be a wait. The Noodle House staff is very friendly and on point. Food comes out very fast. The beer selection is out of this world. The atmosphere can be a little loud and rowdy at times, due to the free flowing beer so it's not the optimal place for small children. It is however a great place to catch up with friends over some good music, hot pho, and a killer beer selection.
OB Noodle House is open from noon until 11pm Monday through Thursday and 11am-11pm Friday through Sunday.
