NKOK Discovery Kids Collection: Infrared Remote Control Scorpion

The Discovery Kids Infrared Remote Scorpion is another delightful creepy crawler toy from NKOK's Discovery Kids Collection. Armed with his familiar weapons of sharp pincers and a dangerous looking stinger on his tail, the scorpion moves in a realistic fashion. His eyes light up and flash in alternating colors of red, green and blue. He is fearsome looking indeed.

The Scorpion comes with a full complement of 6 LR44 batteries. 3 of the batteries go into the small remote control and 3 go into the Scorpion. The remote control is about the size of a key chain without the keys. a sliding panel on the top slides back to reveal the 2 buttons that control the Scorpion. The left button moves him forward at a pretty good clip. His eyes flash and he looks as if his legs are moving but he's actually rolling along on wheels attached to his belly. The right button will cause him to pivot and turn to the right or continue to spin around until you release the button..

The Scorpion's tail is in a fixed position with the stinger arched over his back. The front pincers can be repositioned up, down, close together or farther apart to make him look more menacing.

As with other critters from the NKOK Discovery Kids Collection, the remote is designed to control up to 3 scorpions on a single controller. The printed instruction sheet provides instructions for inserting the batteries and setting up the remote with additional scorpions.

The Scorpion is not recommended for children under 3 years because of a possible choking hazard from small parts. I'm assuming that the small parts of which they speak are the batteries because I don't see any other parts that are likely to come loose. The manufacturer seems to think that girls are wimps because they recommend this toy for boys 4 years and up. I would have loved this toy when I was 4 and your daughter probably will too. You can find it at Wayfair online for around $22.
