When thinking of vacationing in the Orlando, Florida area, most people automatically think only of the Disney resorts. While they offer a lot of fun for the entire family, be sure not to overlook the Nickelodeon Suites Resort, a true hidden gem with more to offer than your average resort.
Nickelodeon Suites Resort is located in the Lake Buena Vista area of Orlando. It is within 6 miles of the Disney parks and less than 2 miles from Downtown Disney. From the second you pull into the parking lot, you notice the thoughtfulness of the staff; handing out stickers to the children, providing directions to the adults and warmly welcoming everyone into the hotel. Upon walking into the lobby, the cleanliness and family-friendly atmosphere is evident. The resort provides couches and Nickelodeon programs for the children to view, while the parents are checking in. The signage throughout the hotel is clear and directs you to guest services kiosks where you can make reservations for specialty dining and other hotel activities. The front desk staff is superb, they ask detailed questions to ensure that they acknowledge any special event that a guest may be celebrating during their stay. They provide the appropriate guest with a pin that acknowledges their celebration, such as "Happy Birthday". The entire resort staff truly pays attention to these pins and makes it a point to say "Happy Birthday" to anyone wearing these pins.
The staffs excellent service is a direct reflection of the property manager Mohammed. He is the definition of excellent customer service. Before, during and after your stay he is available by email, phone and in person to answer any questions that you may have and help make suggestions specific to each customer's preferences. His gracious attitude and willingness to help each customer makes everyone feel special at the resort.
When entering the rooms, it is evident they are family friendly suites and more than accommodating to every family member. In the 2-Bedroom Superior Queen suite, there is a love seat, rocking chair, and flat screen tv, in the living room area. There is also a small table with two chairs, a mini fridge, microwave and sink. The bathroom is well appointed with a full size tub, large sink and plenty of towels. The first of the two bedroom suite is a child's room with two twin beds, a television, and images of Sponge Bob and Patrick on the walls. The other room is the adult's bedroom which has a comfortable queen size bed, another flat screen tv, and closet. The room was impeccably kept with charming details such as flower shaped tissues. The resort even ensured that the room had outlet covers and rounded edges on almost all furniture for additional child safety.
The resort provides two pools for guest use; the lagoon pool and the oasis pool. They both are comprised of slides and water features. The lagoon pool consists of larger, more intricate slides with a "slime area" and stage, and also, a graded entrance which is very convenient for younger children and beginning swimmers . Both pools are clean and have lifeguards at every staircase and pool entrance. The oasis pool consists of a smaller slide area and is located on the quieter side of the resort. The games during the day at the lagoon pool kept all the children and adults laughing and well entertained. Once again, the staff excelled. They were very friendly and engaged, both on stage and while perusing throughout the crowd. The poolside entertainment includes such activities as a pie tossing game, an audience "sliming", dances by the Nickelodeon characters and also movie time with a large inflatable movie screen which displayed such Nickelodeon shows as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The food options that the resort provides pleases the palate of each family member. The food court is located in the mall area of the resort and provides a Subway, Antonio's pizza restaurant, Starbucks, bar and buffet for express dining. In the rear section of the mall area is a large dining room used for the character meals which occur during both breakfast and dinner. The character breakfast includes an omelet and carving station, along with scrambled eggs, Sponge Bob waffles, pancakes, fruit, cereals and a variety of pastries. The characters come out to dance and sing and meet each family. The staff ensures to bring special attention to anyone at the resort celebrating a special event by bringing them up to dance with their favorite character and providing a special treat at the end of their meal. The Nickelodeon staff guides each character to every table to take photos and meet each child and during the breakfast dining, Sponge Bob stays in the front of the dining room, so each child can easily get their picture taken with him. The character dinner features the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Nickelodeon staff again guides each Turtle to every dining table, where they hug and take pictures with each child and show off their "ninja" moves. The character dinner buffet provides a great selection of food. The children's portion of the buffet has pizza, chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese and burgers. The adult portion included a salad bar, chicken parmigiano, tilapia, pork, house made pastas, vegetables and a great antipasti. The wonderful dessert selection included everything from rice krispie treats, brownies, and fruit to "turtle" cheesecake, cannoli, and tiramisu. The wait staff at the dining room excelled in service and consideration. Before entering the character dining for both breakfast and dinner, the front desk staff is diligent in asking if anyone has food allergies or special dietary needs.
The mall area of the resort is not just for dining. The mall provides several family friendly options for entertainment. They have a 4D theater which shows several movies throughout the day. They also have a Double Dare show each night, where guests are encouraged to sign up and be a part of the excitement. The mall also has an arcade with a cotton candy machine and many games and prizes. There is even a mini spa for hair wraps, manis and pedis. The guest kiosks and front desk provide a detailed printout which shows all available activities at the resort during your stay, the times and locations of each activity and which ones are complimentary and which ones are available at an extra charge.
The resort provides other conveniences such as complimentary wifi, pool towels and shuttles to each Disney park to state a few.
Nickelodeon suites resort provides a fun filled family experience with quality entertainment. The excellent management and outstanding service affords every family member the quality vacation and life long memories they deserve.
