Nickelback new album review: 'Here and Now' is "NOT WINNING"!

Nickelback's latest album, Here and Now, became available online and in stores as of Nov. 21. This is the band's seventh album and unfortunately, provides the "same old song and dance" as past albums. Here and Now is another disappointing lick with a few songs about sex, drugs and rock-n-roll. How original of you Chad Kroeger! After 16 years in this business, do you have nothing else to say or sing about? Come on - it's highly doubtful!

While this review is not meant to disrespect the band or its followers, this album was virtually pointless. With every new Nickelback album, there are some differences, but nothing that says they are moving to the next level or breaking the tired, old mold. For once, it'd be nice to see them take a risk instead of making everyone listen to crap about someone lighting up or being on their knees. It's really not impressive and since they won't grow up and do something - anything - different, it's probably time to stop listening altogether.

Personally, it seems like they probably banged this album out quickly. That being said, there have been MUCH better albums released (Godsmack's Oracle, for instance) in a short amount of time. One song on the entire Here and Now album made somewhat of an impact: "This Means War." And even that one isn't all that memorable. Where is your soul Nickelback? Don't see it, don't feel it and it's like there isn't one anymore?

In general, Nickelback has the potential to be FANTASTIC. A handful of critics have mentioned this over the years, but these opinions don't seem to matter to the band members. While the band has a good amount of 'loyals', it won't be surprising if even they don't want to have anything to do with this album. Here and Now is already "dead and gone" in yours truly's book. Next time let's hope Nickelback tries for far above mediocre!
