You indeed can get married at a barn in Orange County, California. Surf City USA, to be exact.
Newland Barn in Huntington Beach, California, is a popular spot for weddings and receptions. The barn is located behind Newland House Museum, a home built in 1898 and stands as the oldest residential building in the city. It is also two miles from the ocean.
The property, located at 19822 Beach Blvd., is behind Newland Shopping Center on the same street. A small preserve is located behind the house and barn, which many couples use for their wedding photos.
The property is available to view every Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Rentals of this site are so popular that couples have to make reservations in person at the Community Services Department at the civic center. A lottery will be held if more than one person shows up requesting the same wedding date.
The barn has a kitchen and bathrooms and an area inside that is suitable for a candy station and other food set-ups. The adjoining sidewalk and lawn is part of the rental and seats 125, according to the city's Web site. The gazebo in back of the home is also available to rent for weddings. The house is not available to rent, but wedding parties can take photos in front of it and also the adjoining garden.
