Let the madness begin!
Officially beginning on February 9th and running through the 16th, New York Fashion Week is one of the must attend event on the fashion calendar attracting fashionphiles from all over the world. But events start well before the lights go up on the catwalk for the first show debuting tomorrow at Lincoln Center. Designers have been hosting preview events and full out showcases since the month started. My fashion week began today at the Tanya Taylor Fall/Winter 2012 presentation at Exit Art.
The late morning event brought to mind images of an English Tea Party (complete with waiters serving tea and crumpets) as invited guests milled around the seventeen models a top platforms in the center of the venue.
As I strolled past each model attired in the modern classic pieces, immediately visions of my favorite fictional New Yorker, Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf, popped into mind. They very feminine cuts, even with the menswear inspired suits, would be the perfect addition to Miss Waldorf’s closet. The collection, peppered with cashmeres, wools, sateen and tweeds were young and flirty but very work appropriate. Tanya Taylor also took into consideration the possibility of after work get-togethers with a few day-to-evening options.
Tanya Taylor is definitely a designer to add to your shopping list.
