Van Der Hagen is a specialty soap manufacturer and known for premier shaving tools and kettle process shaving soaps for men. VDH has added four new Gentle Glycerin bar soaps that will also appeal to women.
Glycerin is a humectant that draws moisture to the skin, making it great to keep the skin hydrated. Glycerin soaps are milder cleansers, with non-irritating ingredients especially beneficial for sensitive skin and skin with disorders like acne and eczema.
Van Der Hagen’s new glycerin bar soaps are hypoallergenic and non comedogenic (won’t clog pores). There are fragrance and synthetic dyes in the ingredient list but most of the ingredients are considered safe and mild.
Like the Van Der Hagen shave soaps, these soaps are hand packed batch-by-batch and created using an old fashion kettle process. Ingredients are added to a heated kettle by a master compounder at a specific temperature, and then the liquid is poured into molds and run through a cooling tunnel and hand packed.
Van Der Hagen Gentle Glycerin Soap is available in Floral, Unscented, Fresh and Fruity. Sent for testing were the Floral and Fruity scented glycerin bar soaps. Created to appeal to women, the scents are mild. Out of the two, Fruity has the better scent. This reviewer doesn’t typically use bar soap, but for glycerin soap fans, these soaps do leave the skin feeling soft. The Glycerin Bar Soaps have a retail price of $2.99.
