New Release's 1/18/11: Ghost "Opus Eponymous"

Ghost, a devil worshiping ministry, has decided to start using music to spread their dark and unholy message to the youth of the world with the release of their debut album “Opus Eponymous”. Whether this is truly the case or just a sales ploy, it was enough to peek this listeners interest.

Expecting the typical European Death Metal crapt, I was surprised to find a melodic hard rock effort that was first and foremost enjoyable to listen too. Establishing their intent with the satanic prayer of “Ritual” and the self explanatory “Satan Prayer” but backing up their legitimacy with just how catchy “Ritual” is and the pure talent demonstrated in the instrumental climax “Genesis”. Be it real or not, “Opus Eponymous” is a good listen worthy of multiple.

As I've already listened to this album half a dozen times since I got it I have to say, even though early in the year, this is the best album I have heard so far this year.
