It’s that time of year again when Cartoon Network releases another DVD of its hit animated shows featuring a grab bag of random episodes. Come July 29, the lucky Cartoon Network series is “Adventure Time” with its new compilation DVD “Princess Day.” Featuring 16 episodes primarily based on the princesses of the Land Ooo like Princess Bubblegum and Lumpy Space Princess, “Adventure Time: Princess Day” has the suggested retail price of $19.82.

Unlike most Cartoon Network compilation DVDs that feature a grab bag of episodes that viewers usually have already seen, the “Adventure Time: Princess Day” DVD lets owners watch the “Princess Day” episode before it airs on Cartoon Network on July 31 (check local listings). “Princess Day” revolves around Lumpy Space Princess and Marceline working together for the first time to prank Breakfast Princess during a meeting of the Land of Ooo princesses. It’s interesting seeing the mischievous work with the brat during the episode.

The rest of the “Adventure Time: Princess Day” DVD episodes mostly feature the other princesses in the hit series. Fans of “Adventure Time” will be delighted to know that the “Princess Day” DVD is the first chance to own the excellent Fionna & Cake special episode “Bad Little Boy” on DVD. A personal favorite episode is “Reign of Gunters” because no one can ever have enough of that penguin.

The grab bag of episodes will be hit & miss, but the chance to preview an episode before it airs on Cartoon Network, the chance to listen to Donald Glover sing as Marshall Lee, and Gunter almost taking over the world is more than enough of a reason to pick up the “Adventure Time: Princess Day” DVD.
