It's Nelly Gnu's turn for her moment in the sun with "Nelly Gnu and Daddy Too" by Anna Dewdney. Fans of the "Llama Llama" series are very familiar with Nelly Gnu, Llama Llama's best friend.
Llama Llama lives with his mother, and Dewdney wanted to celebrate the father-daughter bond, so she decided to give Nelly Gnu her very own book. And "Nelly Gnu and Daddy Too" certainly ccelebrates a father who doesn't mind playing with his daughter and doing activities like building a play house together.
When they go to the hardware store for paint, Nelly can't find her father for one scary moment. But Daddy is there and everything is fine. They decorate their play house, Daddy cooks dinner, and they read books together.
The moral of the story? Together, there's nothing that the two of them can't do. And the love that Daddy has for his daughter shines through every page.
This could be a wonderful book for a new father, or just a book that dad might really like reading to his daughter. But be prepared: she might just ask him for a play house of her own!
