If raunchy, over the top and explosion comedy is your thing, then check out Neighbors starring Seth Rogen and Zac Efron due out in theaters May 9th. The story of a Kelly (Rose Byrne) and Mac (Seth Rogen) a couple in the early years of marriage with a brand new baby are faced with new and unexpected difficulties in their domestic bliss when a fraternity, captained by Teddy Sanders (Zac Efron) moves in next door.
Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne play off each other well as a modern newlywed couple, going through life in a very democratic household. The old patriarchy of Archie Bunker is dead and gone and a new more civilized union exists and is celebrated by this hilarious duo. Initially the two decided to play it cool with Teddy and the gang and prove that they are relatable and not old people. They bribe the young academics with a tightly rolled joint in hopes this age old peace offering will garner some respect with the strapping lads.
In the end the tensions rise to epic proportions and an all-out war takes place on the lawns of the anywhere America street. Everything from exploding couch cushions to babies eating condoms is fair game in this battle of the ages. While some levels of raunchy humor are utilized, a dildo fight comes to mind; the film is more or less an adult version of Home Alone level antics with Pineapple Express level drugs. There is even a Franco in the film teaming up with Rogen, though not James this time, but his younger brother Dave who looks exactly like the accomplished actor.
Anyone who desires some gut busting humor and its afraid of some profanity and sex toys should give Neighbors a viewing.
