Good-Gums toothpaste replacement

I learned about Good-Gums toothpaste replacement and natural tooth and gum care while visiting the Downtown Sarasota Farmer's Market about a year ago. I've been using Good-Gums ever since and have naturally reversed receding gums and gingivitis! I cannot tell you how much money and pain using Good-Gums has saved me!!

But first let me explain about this fabulous natural product! The ingredients are:

  • Baking soda
  • French grey sea salt
  • Cinnamon
  • Tea tree leaf
  • Cranberry
  • Vitamin-C
  • Bio-flavinoid complex
  • Essentials oils of Myrrh and Peppermint

I had been without dental insurance for about a year and a half so I had been looking for some non-flouride toothpaste (while shopping at the market) the day I was introduced to Good-Gums. The gal (whom I later learned was the creator of the product) explained all about how we brush WRONG with too much pressure, yet fail to properly stimulate our gums! We need to get the blood flowing there! Yes, we need to gently brush (or better yet, "massage") our gums!

You have probably learned from your dentist and dental-hygienist to "brush down" or brush in small circular motions, and that's fine for your teeth, but none have ever suggested to me that I need to brush my GUMS!

So when Isabelle (the creator of Good-Gums) suggested to me that the older we get the more issues people tend to have with receding gums because we are not properly massaging our gums - I was astonished! I had been given little rubber tipped gum stimulator tools before from the dental hygienist but never instructed how to use it, and never told how to massage my gums with a soft toothbrush. I had even previously undergone deep scaling cleaning for pre-periodontal disease and gingivitis! I certainly did NOT want to go through that ordeal again as it was quite painful (even with the numbing shots)!

So, I bought a bottle of Good-Gums and took it home. I followed the instructions and brushed faithfully - including my gums - daily. Months went by. I noticed I was having less bleeding when I flossed. I also noticed the sensitivity I used to experience was GONE.

After moving, starting a new job, and getting dental insurance again I went to a new dentist. He took the normal X-rays and gave me a thorough exam. I had NO cavities and NO sign of gingivitis or periodontal disease! NONE!

I must admit I was surprised. I knew I had been doing a good job with brushing and flossing (but I do not floss daily either as I know I should) and I had noticed that with Good-Gums my teeth always felt CLEAN - just like they do after a dental cleaning, but I really didn't expect such a good report. Now I only wish I had been using Good-Gums my whole life! The pain and money I would have saved!

The new dental hygienist didn't even scold me for not flossing! Every previous cleaning I had always been scolded for not flossing daily (they can always tell). But now, it's sure seems like Good-Gums did such a good job for me that my lack of flossing didn't matter! Now, I'm not suggesting you don't need to floss, but at least for me, I found it did not matter I had skipped some days!

I had this product on my list to write a review for awhile but today I was reminded just how the dental industry works. A coworker mentioned she has receding gums and she brushes her teeth many times a day because of it. I commented, "so much for 40 years of flouride huh?" (that's always my subtle way of saying it hasn't helped any - people still get cavities, root canals, crowns, bridges, and dentures as much as they always did - more in my opinion) and she began to tell me about the importance of the deep cleaning ever three months!

My coworker was fairly strong in her belief system so I didn't get into a long winded conversation or try to enlighten her further of alternatives (maybe she'll read this at some point). But then I realized, if what you are doing is working for you, who am I to question it. Go ahead! But for me, I would rather not go to the dentist, and not have that painful deep scaling and root planing. YUCK! I mean, I had a really good dentist and hygienist where we used to live but even as good as they were, I prefer Good-Gums and my new brushing method better!

If like me, you believe every purchase you make equates to voting with your dollars, then you know the best way to nurture companies you believe in is to keep buying their products. I am sure that Good-Gums does just fine selling online and at farmer markets but I love to promote wonderful products when I find them.

There's always an alternative if you look for it and be open to receive!
