Peter lives in a large city, and he wakes up one morning to the ground outside his home covered in beautiful snow. He dresses in warm clothes and goes out to play. He makes tracks in the snow, and enjoys playing with a stick. He hits a limb that is heavy with snow and snow falls on his face. All children will be able to relate to the fun that Peter is having in the snow.

Keats' simple, colorful illustrations are a major part of this classic story. The illustrations have a collage effect, and young children will like the simplicity.
