Last night Radio Station KJZY brought the community together again for another one of their “After Work Concerts,” held throughout the season at various venues in Sonoma County.
The Gypsy Trio entertained us with music that was ultimately listenable and ultimately danceable. In fact one young fireball of energy sprang onto the dance floor with a hand spring and proceeded to break-dance through several numbers. Her energy and enthusiasm were infectious enough that it got the rest of us off our duffs and onto the dance floor, working off some of the calories we had consumed due to the wineries superb wines and excellent food.
If you’re a Zinfandel fan, do yourself a favor and try Russian River’s “Sack Zin.” This is Zin that truly knows what Zin is all about! Visiting Russian River Winery is an ultimately enjoyable experience. Not only are the wines and food world class but the setting is superb. The winery is perched on a knoll under ancient oaks and redwoods, you have a view of the surrounding vineyards and farmlands. The outdoor terraces are in the shadow of the original winery, now under restoration. As ancient as the structure appears, it wasn’t built until 1969, it’s design inspired by the hop-kilns that still dotted the Sonoma county landscape at that time and the remains of the Russian outpost, Fort Ross
The only negative – I don’t do bottled water and I resent like hell that the only water available was bottled water at two bucks a pop.
Yet again we can thank Rob Singleton and KJZY for bringing the community together at these great “After Work Concerts.”
