If I have learned anything during my three decades of metaphysical studies and on-going search for the truth of who we are and why we’re here, it’s this: We are all in charge of our own individual journey, and in order to move forward and achieve our goals for this lifetime, we must continually learn from our experiences. It sounds a bit simplistic after 30 years of study, but it’s a basic truth of our existence: we’re in charge, and based on our actions, we’ll move forward or we will stagnate.
As incarnated beings, we shoulder a lot of responsibility, not only for ourselves, but for each other as well, because we are all connected--and the way we live our lives on a daily basis does affect those around us; this is a basic truth. And sometimes, in the 'spirit' of helping others move forward on their path, an individual soul will reach out with incredible bravery to share immensely personal and difficult excerpts from their lives so that their fellow sojourners can take from it what they will and hopefully facilitate their own journey.
In writing her third book, Journey Into Consciousness, One Woman’s Story of Spiritual Awakening, author Shelly Wilson shares with us her deepest and most painful memories; experiences that helped to form her and push her towards becoming the spiritual teacher she is today. At its core, Journey into Consciousness is a moving personal story of spiritual growth that will no doubt inspire readers to create better lives for themselves. But there's much more to this book, because Shelly doesn’t just tell her story: she’s interspersed within this heart-opening, life-changing account many revelations, quotes, affirmations, and meditations that give we seekers of a better life easy-to-use and make-sense tools that we can incorporate into our own plans of action. In this book, Shelly talks about her life so that we can take better control of our lives and our destiny. Dear Readers, you know that I am all about sharing spiritual tools to help each other make the progress we came here to make, and I love this book. I love the bare-your-soul honesty that Shelly Wilson shares with us, and I love the pearls of wisdom that are in every chapter; wisdom that comes from living through difficult and challenging life experiences and coming through them intact and wiser because of them.
A good friend of mine, Garnet Shulhauser, author of Dancing on a Stamp:Startling Revelations from the Other Side, also read Journey into Consciousness recently, and I’m compelled to make this a double-review and include some of Garnet’s comments below because I think he does an excellent job in describing what this book is all about:
Journey into Consciousness is the fascinating story of Shelly Wilson's journey into spiritual enlightenment. Shelly takes the reader on an emotional roller-coaster ride as she vividly recalls the momentous events in her life, beginning with her early childhood years. Shelly courageously bares her soul as she describes the sorrowful incidents that defined her life during a time when she concedes that she merely "existed". It is easy to empathize with Shelly since most of us have experienced similar events in our own lives. Shelly is a warrior--she never gives up--and this determination allowed her expand her consciousness and spiritual awareness so that she could start to "live" and not just "exist". With a lot of hard work and persistence she re-created herself into the happy and fulfilled spouse, mother, and intuitive medium she is today. And the good news for all of us is that we can learn much from Shelly's journey as we strive to reshape our own lives for the better. Journey into Consciousness is not just a great read--it is also a road map for all of us to follow as it describes many of the practical tools that Shelly used to achieve her remarkable transformation. I found this book to be comforting and inspiring, and I know that everyone who reads it will be energized to cast aside their negative emotions and embrace love and compassion for everyone.
From the outside looking in, it may seem like writing a book containing stories about your own life would be an easy thing to do, but having written three books that include much of my own embarrassing personal stuff, I can assure that this is the most difficult kind of book to write. I know that Garnet will agree with me: He’s a lawyer who courageously came out of the Spiritual closet to write about his initial meeting with his Spirit Guide and the important information Spirit wanted him to share with us—a very difficult thing for any of us to do, but even more so for an analytical, right-brained attorney! Baring one’s soul in print is to put yourself out there for ridicule, but you know what? When folks like Shelly and Garnet and so many others share their private journeys with us, they are helping us all take a giant step forward on our own evolutionary path.
Whether you are just now putting your first foot forward, or you are already firmly on the path of spiritual growth, it is my opinion that this book will facilitate your personal journey into consciousness. And at $4.99 for the Kindle edition on Amazon, it is beyond a bargain.
