Movie review: The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia

After moving into their Georgia dream house with their daughter Heidi, and an unwanted relative, the family begins to sense something isn't quite right. And when young Heidi begins having terrifying visions of events from the past, things take a decidedly dangerous turn.

Abigail Spencer (Lisa), Morgan Shaw (Lisa's Mom), Emily Lind (Heidi), Chat Murray (Andy), Grant James (Mr. Gordy), Katee Sackhoff (Joyce), Lance Nichols (Pastor Wells), Jaren Mitchell (Levi), Cicely Tyson (Mama Kay), Sam Polin (Station Master 1993), Wayne Pere (Station Master 1858).

The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia starts off well enough with a mild attempt at linking this film to the first. From there Heidi begins having visions which both keep the film interesting and are the meat and potatoes of the horror. Speaking of horror, the film does take a bit to get scary but once rolling it does fairly well.

Acting was decent with Spencer delivering decent emotion. Lind was perfect for her part with good facial expressions and delivery. Murray was okay but didn't have a role that would let him be much more anyway. Sackhoff was an interesting addition and while the weak attempt at exploiting her sexuality was fun to watch, it didn't do much for the film.

Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were all well done and fit the film nicely. CGI effects were very nicely done and the film wouldn't have been much without them. Physical effects and stunt work were also good. Dialogue was solid throughout, as were sound and soundtrack.

Overall The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia is a decent horror flick that does a nice job on the main plot reveal toward the end of the film. Horror fans, and fans of the first film, will probably enjoy this one quite a bit.

With plenty of disturbing content and images, mild sexuality, gore, violence, and foul language this should be fine for older teens and above.
