Mike is a detective working for many years on the case of a serial killer who abducts prostitutes for unknown purposes. As he gets closer things take a sudden turn when his teenage daughter disappears and Mike believes she may be the next victim of the serial killer.

John Cusack (Mike), Jennifer Carpenter (Kelsey), Dallas Roberts (Carl), Mae Whitman (Abby), Sonya Walger (Shelley), Mageina Tovah (Brittany), Gary Williams (Darryl), Katherine Waterston (Lauren).

The Factory begins with some background and character development before we get to the meat of things. Once Abby is abducted things get much more interesting with perspective split between Mike and the serial killer, Carl. Tension is built well on the kidnapper side of the story but is somewhat weak from the parent and police side of things. Discovering the true intent of the serial killer added a few twists to the film that kept it interesting through the end.

Acting was mediocre with Cusack delivering his usual. Carpenter was a nice addition and brought another dimension to the film while also playing well against Cusack and Whitman. Roberts was appropriately creepy for his part with good depth. Whitman was okay but felt a bit purposed in parts.

Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were decent with fair attention to detail and quality. Physical effects were minimal but well done. Dialogue was good throughout, as was sound and soundtrack.

Overall The Factory is an entertaining crime thriller with fair quality from most aspects. Those who enjoy a good serial killer twist, or a crime thriller, will enjoy this the most. Those looking for more than the typical crime movie may be a bit disappointed.

With foul language, violence, gore, disturbing and adult situations save this for the oldest teens and above.
