Movie review: Rock n Roll Greats in Concert

Filmed at Itchycoo Park, this video includes Styx, Mark Farner, Rare Earth, Christopher Cross, Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, and an almost 20 minute version of In A Gadda Da Vida by Iron Butterfly. The cover mentions Steppenwolf, Starship and others that were nowhere to be found in the video. Not sure if this is a multi-disc set and they forgot a disc or what happened.

What was in the video is very nicely done. It doesn’t appear this was a performance for video, but rather just a performance. That said though, video was nicely done with good overhead shots, pullback shots, front row seat shots, close ups, crowd perspective shots, etc. There were also some decent technical shots showing guitar and keyboard work. Sound quality was pretty good. Again, not an audio production but it sounded like the recording was made straight from audio, not from placed microphones.

Some of the bands featured put on a good show whereas others aren’t as much about the show as they are the music. Christoper Cross is a great example. The guy is not a showman in the least but his vocals and band were dead on with ‘Sailing’. Just beautiful. Iron Butterfly also did a great job.

Overall a nicely done video with decent audio and video quality. Just don’t believe the cover list of bands.

Nothing in this one to limit audience age.
