Movie review: Delete

When an artificial intelligence comes to life in the world's super-computers the human race is put on notice. A reporter chasing down the story ends up partnering with a hacker who believes he can stop the artificial intelligence, returning the worlds systems to normal operations.

Keir Gilchrist (Daniel), Erin Karpluk (Jesse), Matt Frewer (General), Seth Green, Janet Kidder, Erin Karpluk, Theresa Russell (Mother), Tom MacNeill (Official).

Delete begins innocently enough with some plausibly random disasters before the film quickly throws the two main characters together. From there the storyline quickly develops as the rogue computer program begins to determine how the human race will be eradicated. The human side of the story rotates between moving slowly and speeding along as Daniel and Jesse try to figure out if they can save a world that doesn't even seem to understand the problem.

Acting was pretty good with Gilchrist putting forth some good effort. Karpluk felt a bit more practiced and worked well with Gilchrist. Green was an enjoyable addition and actually brought some depth to the film. The remainder of the supporting cast did well with good delivery and emotion.

Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were all solid and felt realistic. Effects were minimal but well done, both physical and CGI. Dialogue was enjoyable and to the point without a lot of unneeded information or sidetracks. Sound and soundtrack were both good.

For a two episode series, Delete was pretty good. Though the plot isn't completely original or unique, the film is fairly realistic and the film exhibits good technical quality. Sci-fi fans should enjoy this one.

With some mild violence this should be fine for teens and above.
