Drunk at a party and missing her girlfriend, Sam is slipped some drugs and ends up being sexually assaulted. Shortly after she begins having some strange physical symptoms but what she thinks is an STD turns out to be much worse.

Contracted at first looks like a teen slasher film setup while character and plot development takes place. From there, things start to take a decidedly gruesome turn as Sam realizes it isn't an STD that she has. While the blood flows Sam also takes us through an emotional journey with her family and girlfriend. Toward the end things stop making a lot of sense with Sam's physical cravings, but the film wraps up with a reasonable ending.

Najarra Townsend (Samantha), Caroline Williams (Mom), Alice Macdonald (Alice), Katie Stegman (Nikki), Matt Mercer (Riley), Charley Koontz (Zain), Simon Barrett (BJ), Ruben Pla (Doctor), Dave Holmes (Therapist).

Acting was decent here with Townsend putting forth some good emotion. Williams fit well in the Mom role while Macdonald made a good annoying best friend. Stegman was an interesting addition and pulled her part off nice. The remainder of the supporting cast was pretty good.

Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were good and fit the film well. Effects were nicely done with some good gore shots. Dialogue was decent though not really exciting. Sound and soundtrack were both nicely done.

Contracted is a fairly disturbing horror flick with a definite sci-fi aspect. If you enjoy saying Ewww during a movie, this one is for you. If you are easily grossed out by blood or gore you should probably stay away from Contracted.

With plenty of blood, gore, explicit sexuality and sexual assault, foul language, and mild drug use, save this one for the oldest teens and above.
