Movie review: Colin Quinn: Long Story Short

Comedian Colin Quinn walks us through his theories of world history, the fate of empires, religion, and the latest episode of "Jersey Shore". Moving from Saturday Night Live fame to the stage, Colin brings his stoic expression and includes a heavy dose of intelligence in his routine.

Colin takes a look at human evolution and history, educating the audience while interjecting a healthy dose of sarcasm and comedy. This isn't your typical stand-up comedy act by any means. It truly feels as if Colin is trying to impress us with the irony of human existence and at times seems to have contempt for the audience laughing at the reality of truth. He leaves us with the interesting experience of laughing while at the same time making us think about the reality of the world.

A comedian has to be part actor and Colin does pretty well with good physical energy, facial expressions, impressions, and emotion.

Technical work was well done throughout. Colin performs in conjunction with a video presentation that is well done, and his timing is perfect. Sound was also nicely done.

Those who enjoy more intellectual humor will enjoy this the most while those preferring vulgar or crotch humor will be somewhat disappointed. Colin makes you think while he makes you laugh so if you aren't wanting to think this one isn't for you.

Some mild foul language but overall this should be fine for older teens and above.
