In this sequel, most of the original cast once again races across the country in automobiles to win a prize. But when The Sheik is kidnapped along with the prize money, and the mob gets involved, things get even more interesting.
Burt Reynolds (JJ), Dom DeLuise (Victor/Captain Chaos/Don Canneloni), Dean Martin (Jamie), Sammy Davis Jr. (Fenderbaum), Jamie Farr (The Sheik), Marilu Henner (Betty), Shirley MacLaine (Veronica), and many more.
Ok, forget about the plot. The point to this movie is fast cars, breaking the law without getting shot, babes, testosterone, sexual innuendo, and famous people having fun. In that way, this one hits the mark over and over. The humor is juvenile and non-stop which is exactly what it should be in this film. The stars are goofy, over the top, and at times the acting is quite rough. Again, what it should be in this film.
Acting was ridiculous from everyone involved and the cast is more extensive than can be mentioned here. Suffice to say, there were some big names having a ton of fun.
Camera work, sets, backgrounds…who cares? This is about the comedy, not the quality. Physical effects, or stunts actually, were good fun. Dialogue was campy and kooky, again as expected. Sound and soundtrack were good.
If you are looking for intellectual stimulation, pass on this one. If you are interested in 108 minutes of more stars than can be named living every 16 yr. olds dream of racing on the highways of the U.S. , then sit back and enjoy the movie.
This one is rated PG but as a warning, there is a scene with a well endowed woman flashing on the side of the highway. She is wearing pasties but that isn’t saying much. A fair amount of sexual innuendo and some violence as well. Preens and above should be okay with this one.
Cannonball Run 2 is no longer showing in any Littleton, Colorado movie theatres.
