Shaw is a retired government operative or assassin who suspects something strange is going on when he attends the funeral of a friend. All doubt disappears after he looks into a problem for his friend Garret, a senate hopeful, and finds himself yanked out of retirement to try and foil a plot to kill several Senators. And things go from bad to worse when he realizes they are going to frame him for the murders.
Wesley Snipes (Shaw), Athena Karkanis (Melina), Lochlyn Munro (Garret), Winston Rekert (Reverend Tim), Rachel Hayward (Carlson), Scott Heindl (Graham).
I hate to say it but, this is a cookie-cutter action thriller. At the same time, it is a decent film. There are a couple of twists that at least give the plot some bite but, not much. This is typical Snipes anymore. Sharp clothes, sunglasses, ninja moves, and the attitude he can do anything. Add some bad guys for him to beat, shoot, hack apart, or blow up. Add a pretty girl or two and the possibility of a sex scene. Back it with a decent budget so you have good sets and camera work. Mix well with a couple of supporting actors who are half-decent and not bad guys or sex toys and poof, you have a movie!
Yes it is a decent quality film, yes it appears to have had a budget, yes there were some folks who can act in the film, yes the action was decent, and yes we have seen this type of movie before over and over. There is just nothing really new or exciting to see here.
If you are a huge Snipes fan, or a serious macho man action fan, you will probably like this one a lot. For everyone else, keep searching. You can do better.
Violence and foul language so save this one for older teens and above.
