As a child, Abraham Lincoln's mother was slain by a vampire prompting him to become a vampire hunter. Now an adult, legend and history are found to be a result of his efforts to keep normal humans safe as Abraham tracks the creatures of the night even while performing as the 16th President of the United States.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter begins with some intrigue then quickly goes flat. Thankfully sticking with the film is worth it when the action and plot pick up and we become more invested in the characters. As the film evolves nods to history and an unusual perspective of Lincoln keep things interesting to the end. Don't confuse this with the cheap copy marketed with a similar name. Though a bit tongue-in-cheek, this is a decent vampire flick with something of an original plot.
Acting wasn't bad with Walker doing surprisingly well as Lincoln. Cooper, Mackie, and others did well and lent a solid feel to the film. Winstead did nicely as Mary Todd and fit the role comfortably.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds all felt well done and solid. Effects, CGI and physical, were good and felt only mildly overplayed. Dialogue was okay with only a few corny lines, while sound and soundtrack were both good.
Overall Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was a unique blend of history and vampires that delivers more horror and entertainment than you might expect. Despite the name, if you are at all a vampire fan give this one a chance. You just might enjoy it more than you think.
With persistent violence, blood, gore, and some brief sexuality this should be fine for older teens and above.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is no longer showing in any Littleton, Colorado movie theatres.
