Mouth mesmerizes the Jazzhaus with a funky disco party + Previews!

Returning from their Colorado tour, Mouth brought a taste of disco to the Jazzhaus with their funky jams last night including a new guest violinist and a hoop dancer for their double-set show. Mouth always brings a crowd, but last night the Jazzhaus was overflowing with fans, packing the dance floor, aisles and bar. The band's two sets were easily some of their best yet, with wild, psychedelic jams and solos that blew the minds of regular fans and newcomers alike.

Mouth's ceaseless energy guarantees long, impressive jams with their original brilliance in each song so that fans can recognize what they're hearing, when they aren't on a psychedelic trip into outerspace. For this show, the band gave a whole new meaning to solos and jams, with lengthy, experimental voyages inbetween the fan's favorite melodies. Each Mouth show is a whole new jam session, but this show was especially unique. The addition of the vibrant violinist, Madison Decamp, added a sweet, inspired new dynamic to the band's sound that rang of disco at its finest.

To add to the surreal experience, a fog machine played with the lights so the entire stage and dance floor was a misty haze. Hoop-master Lindsay Love brought her mini-hoops on stage and performed a magnificent number of dances for the songs. She was joined by an army of girls who filled the stage behind the band for some of the fans' favorite songs. By then the dance floor was so entirely full there was virtually no room to dance.

The Jazzhaus gets crowded for Mouth shows. Their anniversary show last month packed the venue to the gills. This show may have matched that, the entire room was stuffed, from the stage to the back door. Mouth's adoring fans were reinforced by a new faces from all over town. One friend of the fans was bar-hopping and saw other bands and DJs last night before hearing the funky noise pouring onto the street from the Jazzhaus. "I thought I'd come up and check it out and I'm really glad I did. I've never seen these guys before, but this is easily the best show downtown tonight." The band has such a huge fan-base in Lawrence, it is already clear before they can fill a much bigger venue than the Jazzhaus, but for an intimate cyber-funk experience, the little venue is one of the best.

As far as dance parties go, you cannot find a better show than Mouth to boogey down and get crunk at. Jeremy's snappy guitar riffs, Zach's jazzy bass solos and Stephen's invigorating drum beats took the crowd through a journey last night. From the hot dance tunes to the psychedelic trance interludes, the two sets demonstrated this rising star's musical prowess. With an hour-long first set, and a second set that ended with a fantastic encore, the band satisfied an immensely full Jazzhaus.
