The Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer Q.Shield™ hooded down jacket is considered the lightest full-featured hooded down jacket anywhere. It makes for an excellent layering jacket and keeps warmth in without the bulk.
The Ghost Whisperer hooded down is created with the Ghost Whisperer 7D x 10D fabric and is sub-eight ounces in weight. Features include an 850-fill Q.Shield™ Down, zip-pockets and a cinch hem and it zips into its own pocket for compact stowage. The Q.Shield™ Down resists moisture and retains critical loft even in damp conditions for consistent, dependable warmth.
The weight of the Ghost Whisperer hooded down is unbelievably light. When you feel the jacket you wonder how something so lightweight can possibly keep someone warm. It’s a beautiful jacket, and once I put it on, it was game on to see how durable and how cozy it’d keep me while out ice climbing and hiking in the snow in various weather conditions.
I was immediately amazed at how warm this jacket was. It was pretty chilly the first day out ice climbing and when layered with an outer shell, it was perfect. While belaying, I usually get slightly chilled since I’m just standing there and not doing a whole lot of movement, but not once did I get cold or even a slight chill. It didn’t add any bulk and I could barely tell it was even on. The hood fit nicely under my helmet and kept the wind chill from sneaking around my neck.
When it came time for me to climb, sometimes I only had to wear the Ghost Whisperer jacket without an outer shell, and I was comfortable the whole time. Many climbers around me complimented on how great the jacket looked, and when they felt how light it was, they were pretty blown away.
Packing the jacket took very little space with it folding into its own pocket. It was super compact and allowed for extra room for other gear and necessities in my pack.
The Ghost Whisperer hooded down is an incredible jacket. It is fantastic for layering and alone in not-extremely-cold weather conditions. This jacket will keep you dry and warm without extra weight or bulkiness. It is highly recommended for avid outdoor adventurers. It is true to fit, so if you want something a little more loose, get a size bigger. The look, the feel, and the performance of the Ghost Whisperer with Q.Shield Down are all top notch. This jacket is unquestionably one you’ll want for your outdoor ventures.
