Finding a new hair salon is a bit like placing a bet on a horse. You usually just go with a name that you like, or if you are extra prepared, then you have a suggestion from a friend. In the end, the performance is always variable, and you never really know what the outcome will be. So when you do find a salon you enjoy, you should form relationship with them, returning every few weeks like clockwork to ensure that your hair and skin is as well cared for as can be. On a recent trip to Hair Rx Salon and Skin Care in Aurora, Colo., it was clear that many customers are finding this hidden jewel on Parker Road and establishing their own lasting relationships.
Hair Rx stylists are all master technicians, with a minimum of five years experience, and they place a very high importance on educating the customer to ensure that you leave the salon equipped with the skills needed to look salon-beautiful every day.
Take, for example, Hair Rx Master Stylist Angie Guerin, who is a lot more skilled than her young age would suggest. As a master colorist and graduate of Xenon International Academy, she knows hair, and she takes the time to educate her clients about how to best care for their hair. She comes equipped with lots of tricks and tips, all designed to help you look and feel your best. Plus, Angie is friendly and easy to have a conversation with, which is always an important skill when you are sitting in a stylist’s chair watching her work on your head for an hour at a time.
However, Hair Rx is much more than just hair. Like many salons, Hair Rx offers custom facials, which will help keep your skin looking and feeling its best. If you’ve never had a custom facial, then you really must take the time out of your hectic schedule to give this a try. You’ll be greeted by the salon's master aesthetician and taken to a private room where you’ll put on a comfy towel and lay down on the treatment bed. She’ll take a look at your skin, examining it to build a custom treatment around your unique needs. Everyone’s skin is different, so it is this custom treatment that is so important. You’ll then get treated to ultimate relaxation with steam and extraction, complete with massage.
It is important to note that on my trip for a facial I had mentioned a specific allergy to lanolin and shea butter, which has kept me away from facials for years. I mentioned my allergy just once, and every product that was used was wonderful on my very sensitive skin. I glanced over a couple of times and caught the aesthetician examining ingredients on the bottles before anything touched my skin. Now, more than four days after the facial, my skin is still softer than it has been in years. It is this kind of attention to detail that will keep me coming back.
Let’s face it. You are busy and you work very hard. You rush from work to home, caring for your job and your family. But when do you take the time to care for you? It is very important to find the time to pamper yourself. Schedule a relaxing haircut or a custom facial and you’ll have a few minutes of the ultimate relaxation. Then, you’ll emerge feeling relaxed and beautiful, letting you be a more confident you when you tackle all those pesky stresses that will still be there when you get out.
