British Secret Service Agent 007 James Bond (Roger Moore) is going to the Drax Corporation in California. You see a space shuttle built by the Drax Corporation has gone missing. It was being piggy backed to the east coast when two people took off thus killing the 747 crew. M ( Bernard lee) feels that a visit might give Bond some clues as to what happened.
Bond meets Hugo Drax (Michael Lonsdale) and all seems on the up and up. James is given a tour of the complex and meets a Dr. Goodhead (Lois Chiles). At first the two don't exactly hit it off. Bond goes snooping around during the night and sees some interesting papers in Drax's safe. It sends Bond to Venice where he sees Goodhead, and the two eventually talk. Bond tells her that he knows she is a CIA agent. Bond does some snooping at a glass factory in Venice and finds a chemical that kills humans but not animals. When Bond and Goodhead spend the night together he sees she is heading to South America the next day.
M gives Bond a couple of weeks off but then asks Bond where he is going. Bond says after Goodhead. When Bond arrives in Rio de Janeiro he finds both Goodhead and Jaws (Richard Kiel). Now Jaws has already tried to kill Bond earlier in the movie but this time he takes them both to Drax.
Drax has everyone loaded onto the Moonraker and they are going into outer space. Once in outer space several other shuttle craft have appeared and they are heading to a secret space station. Bond learns of what Drax is up to and so does Jaws. It is Jaws who helps Bond and Goodhead escape.
Drax wanted to kill off every human being and replace them with genetically superior human beings. Wow doesn't that sound like what the Nazi's wanted to do.
Why do we as humans never seem to be happy with what we've got. Director Lewis Gilbert does a brilliant job with this one. It is kind of sad cause we do lose Jaws but he ends up doing good for all mankind. So maybe there is help for us once and for all. Enjoy.
