‘Moonlight Never Shined So Bright’ Review and Release Party!

Thanks to the internet a lot of artists are able to share their work with the masses. Sometimes this is a good thing, other times, not so much. BUT, there are those magical times where an album comes along from an independent musician and it Takes. Your. Breath. Away. Like holy mother, why isn’t this on the radio?! because I want to name my first born after it...I digress.

One artist that can bring out such adoration for music is the insanely talented, Christine Hoberg (who Examiner has previously introduced you to). Her third release and first studio album, ‘Moonlight Never Shined So Bright’ is an ethereal journey that plays with some amazing themes.

Good vs. Evil. Light vs. Dark, it’s an epic journey of raw emotion that will stay with you long after the album comes to an end. ‘Moonlight Never Shined So Bright’ is packed with powerful vocals, thoughtful lyrics, and enchanting melodies. It’s good people. It’s REALLY good.

Songs included on the album are:

Intro - glow through the icy panes

1.) change my name

2.) devil with lipstick

3.) another man

4.) sometimes

5.) moonlight never shined so bright

Outro - where the least light shines, shine the light

Hoberg says, “This album is so intimate to me because these songs come from a quieter place in me. They took me so long to show anyone else. The kind of things you make when it’s quiet, and you have night sounds as your only friends.

They are all sewn together through this one night I had walking home. I was in a strange place in my head for a few days and the moon was out this night and was hitting the open road and me so distinctly, it felt like it’s strong white rays were reaching out just to us.

The outro on the album, ‘where the least light shines shine the light’ is what came out of me on that walk home. I started singing it to myself quietly and then louder and louder until I realized I was at my house doorstep. And something felt changed in me.

I felt stronger in a way that I carried with me. The moon had done something to me. I ran upstairs and the image of the album came out of me that night so clearly and quickly and these are the songs that are carved out of that moment.”

“This singer-songwriter was a fun respite from the surfeit of rock bashers that entered the contest. But Hoberg's soulful vocal style and mellow accompaniment set her apart, too.”
