“Freaky just got fabulous, be yourself, be unique, be a monster”
Such is the slogan for the animation “Monster High”. According to Wikipedia, "Monster High is an “American Fashion Line doll created by Garrett Sander, with illustrations done by Kellee Riley." The show was originally made in 2007 but released in 2010. Characters are depicted as the children of famous monsters like Frankenstein, Dracula, the Sea Monster, and even Mummy.
Today the Valentine’s Day Special, “Why Do Ghouls Fall in Love” hit Nickelodeon at 1pm Eastern time. Draculaura(need I say whose her father?) is turning sweet sixteen..hundred and everyone is excited to celebrate this day with her, being that its on the same day as Valentine’s.
Enter Valentine, her sweetheart from the distant past and his words of charm and magic hearts which constantly float around him, but he has a secret as black and sharp as his heart and fangs. Will Clawd(a werewolf), the one who loves Draculaura, may be able to give her that special gift he knows she wants or will this be a disaster from Hades?
Since its 2010 Halloween debut, Monster High has captured our attention because of the super cool graphics, the different personalities of the young monsters and it seems its films are always corresponding to a holiday in which you can celebrate with these upbeat, intelligent monsters.
“Why Do Ghouls Fall in Love” had a good storyline, however it could have been better using regular animation techniques than CGI. CGI makes the characters look particularly shiny and with “slow to catch on” emotions in their eyes. See other’s response about CGI versus Flash Animation on LiveJournal
One can surely say this animation is very interesting and is sure to keep making hits along the way. To learn more about Monster High and its characters and their origins, see http://www.monsterhigh.com/
