Frankie Stein, one of the dolls in the Monster High series, is about as far away from a traditional Barbie as a doll can get, but it is unique and adorable in its own right. The Mattel doll is the daughter of good old Frankenstein and his bride and has the neck bolts and scars to prove it.
Dressed in scary cute clothing and donning bracelets, removable earrings, gorgeous makeup, and hair that is colored black and silver, the doll is very cool looking. Her clothing ensemble consisting of a faux leather jacket and a dress, platform shoes, and a belt are also removable. Additional fashion sets of clothing and shoes for the doll are sold separately.
Frankie Stein also comes with a clutch, a purse, a black hair brush, and a paper “yearbook” with stickers. The dolls head, arms, and legs can be posed and she can either be placed in a stand that comes with the doll or can be taken off the stand and posed in a seated position.
According to the box the doll is packaged in, the toy is meant for children ages six years and up. This is likely due to some of the small removable items that are part of Frankie Stein’s ensemble.
Overall, the doll was fun to pose and actually looks quite stylish in the stand. It is recommended for children six and older who may be bored with the traditional Barbie doll and want a doll with a definite edge.
